Elementary Fundraiser at McDonald's

Mapleton Elementary School is participating in a fundraiser at McDonald’s on Claremont on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  A portion of the sales during those hours will go toward technology at the elementary.  Please come out and support our school!

Note:  The location has changed from the original location on Route 250.

School Time Adjusted to Make-Up Days

To make-up calamity days over the 5 days allowed by the state, Mapleton Local Schools will be in session on Monday, April 21 and will add 15 minutes to the begiining of the school day and 15 minutes to the end of the school day beginning Monday, March 31 through Thursday, May 1.

Western Reserve Baseball/Softball Rescheduled

Do to a schedule conflict with our academic banquet, we will be moving our Baseball/Softball games with Western Reserve from Thursday April 24th to Monday April 28th.

Baseball/Softball Updates

All St. Paul Varsity and JV baseball and softball games will be played at VFW park this year. The address is 140 Milan Ave., Norwalk, Ohio 44857. Make a right turn on to East Main at the top of the hill. The Courthouse is on the right. Go east and turn by St. Paul High School. St. Paul is on the left this is Milan Ave and head north. past the first stop lights. The VFW is on your right. The ball field is behind the VFW post.
 
The varsity teams will be home tomorrow vs. Dalton. Thursday 4/10/14
The varsity teams will be home Friday vs. St. Paul, 4/11/14
The varsity boys will be at Columbia Saturday for a double header, 4/12/14
The varsity girls will be home for a double header with Norwayne 4/12/14

Mountie Cafe
Come visit the Mountie Cafe! Open Monday-Friday, 7:30-8:00 am.  We have Starbucks coffee, hot chocolate, and Ms. Dorland's treats.  Everyone is welcome.

Seniors
A reminder that the applications for the Mapleton PTO scholarship, athletic boosters scholarship, and the Nova Lions Club scholarship  have deadlines for this week.  See Mrs. Long if you have questions.

Volleyball
Any girl interested in playing volleyball that is not involving in a spring sport, there is conditioning after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Lorain County Community College
On Friday May 2, there is going to be a digital game development conference at Lorain County Community College.  Professional game developer, Jason Conaway, will be there to discuss project he has worked on including League of Legends and Metal of Honor.  If you are interested in attending, see Mr. Kidney for details.

Board of Education Regular Meeting

Mapleton Board of Education regular board meeting will be Monday, April 14th at 
7:30 p.m. in the Mapleton Middle School meeting room.

Delay Start Days

Mapleton Local School District will be observing 2 hour delay starts due to teacher in-services the following days are:

October 16                 January 22
November 13
           February 19
December 11
           May 21

All students should report to school by 10:00 a.m.

Child Find Statement

In an effort to serve young people with disabilities, Mapleton Local Schools is continually in process of locating and evaluating children from 3 to 21 years of age who are suspected as having a disability.  Disabilities may include developmental delays, health impairments, autism, and traumatic brain injury.  Individuals may contact the building Principals or Director of Special Services about children suspected as having a disablilty that may qualify for special education services. Information is available about special education policies and procedures in each building by contacting the building Principal.  If you have questions about the above-mentioned process, please call Brian Hessey, Director of Special Education, at 419-945-8180.
